To prevent premature gas turbine failure, by blade crack or blade rubbing, and to optimise efficiency in operation, the CapaciSense system combines blade tip clearance and blade vibration monitoring using non-contact long-life captive capacitive probes able to withstand temperatures up to 1400ºC/2550ºF, the highest in the market, and high bandwidth electronics of up to 400kHz. With over 30 years of experience, the CapaciSense system enables real-time monitoring of every blade at turbine harsh temperatures both during engine development testing and in-service operation, providing a virtual window to see inside the running turbomachinery.
